Church leadership had always been a part of Father Blakes life.
He was a Youth Minister, Music Minister, Sunday School Teacher and held many other roles in the church over the years.
In 1990 the call to become a priest became evident in his life. He attended seminary at The University of the South,
the School of Theology, Sewanee, TN, and earned a Masters of Divinity Degree. As a priest in The Episcopal Church,
he served in Central Florida and North Carolina. Over the past few years he has an interim priest all over the Diocese
of Central Florida. He has also been invited to be guest a preacher, teacher, musician at various other churches and
groups throughout Florida. Father Blake has studied meditative prayer with Norbertine Monks, Centering Prayer with the
Very Reverend Dr. Tom Ward, Chaplain of the University of the South, and other meditation and healing practices with
many other noted clergy. He is a member of the Order of St. Luke, an organization dedicated to the practice and
teaching of the healing arts.
After much prayer and deliberation, the Search Committee and
Vestry issued a call to Father Blake to serve as Full-Time Rector/Priest. He was installed in August 2007.
Father Blake had served as Priest-in-Charge at St. Paul's for a year prior to his being called.
"My vision for the church, is to be a shepherd that guides St. Pauls into becoming a place where
Christs love is taught and experienced. Our goal should be to grow in Christs love, to share Christs
love with our community and the world so they know we are Christians by our love. It is my hope that St Pauls
will grow because we are providing meaningful worship and a place where people feel loved and encouraged. It will be
my task to challenge others to give of themselves so that together we can experience the miraculous love and healing
power of Christ! We will demonstrate to the world how a church is a place that offers support and love each other so
we can enjoy the blessings of life that God has given us. I hope to help build a place where all people are welcomed
and learn how wonderful it is to be a part of the family of God!"
"Were all in
this together!"
